Job Summary: Teaches Surgical Technology courses within the Surgical Technology Program. May teach a range of subjects, including but not limited to Surgical Technology specific courses, Customer Service, Law & Ethics, and Exam Preparation.
Required Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Must possess a credential in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA) and have a minimum total of two years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past five years.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Requires the ability to work with staff and students.
- The instructional staff must be responsible for directing, evaluating and reporting student progress toward course objectives, and for the periodic review and updating of course material.
- Promotes excellence in instruction.
- Identifies and meets the learning needs of the students.
- Develops course schedules and syllabi.
- Plans, develops, and delivers lectures and activities. Writes tests and develops other methods to evaluate student progress and competence.
- Plans, develops, and delivers laboratory instruction incorporating state-of-the-art industry practices.
- Works effectively with students and staff of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds and ages and successfully interacts with supervisors, colleagues, and staff as part of an education team.
- Communicates effectively in oral and written English.
- Keeps accurate grade and attendance records in the Learning Management System (LMS).
- Understands adult education learning theory.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office or classroom setting with minimal exposure to safety or health hazards.

Salary and Compensation Information: Courses are paid on a per-credit basis. New Part-time Faculty begin at Step 1 of the payscale, with steps being “rolled” once per term.
