Job Responsibilities
- Evaluate validity of data, apply basic statistics, interpret results, and take appropriate action.
- Perform the maintenance and/or calibration of instruments and equipment.
- Set-up and perform both routine and non-routine lab tests according to specifications.
- Prepare test unit/model for testing, making alterations as needed.
- Record data (manually or electronically) and assist in summarization of data for reports and filing.
- Deal with ambiguous situations and instructions in prototype developments.
- Take initiative in problem-solving without waiting for engineers.
- Play a crucial role in identifying and addressing unexpected behaviors in control software.
- Troubleshoot and provide pointers before involving engineers.
- Perform minor maintenance on test rooms and equipment as assigned.
- Assist in cleanup of work area and equipment as assigned.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Nature & Scope
- Works within well-defined instructions.
- Uses established procedures and works under supervision to perform assigned tasks.
- Work is closely supervised.
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of HVAC safety.
- Knowledge of HVAC controls, including but not limited to: Configuring HVAC units, operating smart thermostats, interpreting error codes, use of phone apps to configure smart home devices.
- Experienced in soldering PCBs and making wire harnesses.
- Knowledge of HVAC System and its components.
- Advanced brazing skills (in-house braze training required).
- Hands-on or mechanical and electronics inclined.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office-Excel and Outlook.
- Comfortable in learning new web-based data entry platforms.
- Good verbal and written communication skills: ability to understand technical instructions from engineers and fill in the blanks as needed.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Data analysis and problem-solving skills.
Experience
- 3-7 years’ experience lab technician experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Education/Certification
- Advanced technical training-certification in electronics or HVAC is highly preferred.
- EPA 608 certification required or obtain one within 3 months of start date.

- Frequent sitting, standing, and walking.
- Daily use of computer.
- May be exposed to relatively high and low temperatures for short periods when accessing test rooms.
- Light physical effort required in working with materials and/or equipment.
- May involve considerable walking and/or standing or may be physically confined to an area due to testing or equipment demands. Must be able to perform essential responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations.
