Position Highlights The Arizona Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory at the University of Arizona invites applications for an Anatomic Pathologist (Pathologist III) position. The successful candidate’s duties include a diverse workload with companion animals, livestock, wildlife, and some exotics. The position also brings the opportunity to work with our welcoming and inclusive faculty and staff as well as being a part of Research, Innovation & Impact (RII)’s community.
The laboratory is one of the original twelve laboratories partnered in the National Animal Health Laboratory Network (NAHLN) and participates in supporting the Cooperative Extension’s Arizona Livestock Incident Response Team (ALIRT). ALIRT was designed to enhance the diagnosis of unexplained mortality events in livestock.
There will be opportunities to work with and mentor veterinary students as well as continuing education opportunities. Mentorship is available for early career pathologists.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Necropsy Service
- Gross and Histopathological examinations on all species
- Case coordination
- Biopsy service
- Consultation with colleagues, practitioners, shelters, law enforcement, and local, state or federal agencies
- Communicating with clients orally and in writing
- Writing and interpreting test results
- Participation in the Quality Management system
- Additional duties may be assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to work with others in a team atmosphere.
- Solid understanding of client needs.
Minimum Qualifications
- DVM and Board Certification Eligible in Pathology
- 5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in quality management systems.
