PRIMARY DUTIES:
Under general supervision, maintains the health and welfare of a diverse group of animals in the city shelter by providing veterinary care that includes preventive care, diagnostic procedures, emergency care, triage, and general basic medical and surgical treatments in compliance with regulatory and city requirements as applicable. This position also completes required administrative documentation and tasks related to veterinary care.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Graduation from a college or university accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) Degree.
- One year of clinical experience practicing as a veterinarian is preferred.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
- Valid Texas driver license with good driving record.
- Current license in good standing to practice veterinary medicine in the State of Texas.
- Current United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) License.
- Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) License and/or Controlled Substance Registration Certification.
