Hourly rate: $20.15
The Medical Assistant performs the basic duties of a medical assistant such as maintaining medical records and logs, performing routine clerical duties, and responding to patient inquiries and needs including fee assessment and insurance coverage, as well as basic lab work. This position works under the supervision of the Health Center Manager.
Essential Functions:
- Practice a customer-oriented approach to health care delivery.
- Demonstrate proficiency in use of autoclave and routine laboratory tests.
- Perform check-in duties, schedule patient appointments, and maintain medical records.
- Participate in health center efforts for compliance with quality assurance guidelines.
- Assist in the provision of contraceptive supplies and provide information as appropriate.
- Provide recovery room assistance and education in compliance with guidelines.
- Assist in clerical and informational tasks related to proper follow-up of patients.
- Maintain an efficient, clean, and comfortable Health Center facility.
- Participate in routine Health Center chart audits and quality assurance procedures.
- Provide support and direction to Health Center volunteers.
- Remain informed about family planning methods and PPIL protocols.
- Demonstrate commitment to PPIL core values.
- Other duties as assigned.

Supervisor: Health Center Manager
Status: Part Time. Non-exempt from the overtime provisions of the wage and salary regulations.
Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or GED. Certified Medical Assistant or equivalent experience preferred.
Experience: Previous professional experience with the provision of family planning services is preferred.
Personal & Professional Qualities:
Commitment to efficient and customer-oriented provision of services.
Excellent communication skills. Ability to communicate with patients, the public, staff, and volunteers in a professional manner. Bi-lingual ability in Spanish is helpful.
High energy level, organizational skills, and attention to detail required.
Must be willing and able to work a schedule that may include evening and weekend hours.
