Job Summary:
The Ethics Intern is an active member of the Ethics Program at Wellstar Health System and will work within a robust ethics department. The Ethics Intern will work on research projects as assigned and gain practical experience/familiarity with health care ethics in a leading health system. The Ethics Program enjoys robust institutional support and is looking to become an international leader in the field of clinical, organizational, and research ethics. The individual reports directly to the Assistant Vice President of Ethics, Advance Care Planning, and Spiritual Health.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Ethics Research Projects:
- Develops IRB proposals and conducts background research for proposal.
- Engages with research participants around research project.
- Collects data for research projects.
- Participates in evaluation of data collected.
- Writes up research for publication and conferences.
- Ethics Education and material development:
- Creates and reviews materials for specified research project.
- Validates materials with research team.
- Develops research tools for specified projects.
- Plans, delivers and evaluates education for research projects.
- Completes requisite research training, e.g., CITI training.
- Ethics Programming and Integration:
- Collaborates with Ethics team to identify areas of growth.
- Searching for and writing of grant proposals.
- Conducts literature reviews.
- Participates in QI projects including developing, writing and implementing.
Required Minimum Education:
Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program with preference for those in the following fields: theology, philosophy, medical humanities, law, pre-med, healthcare administration, public health, or other healthcare related fields.
Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):
All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
Additional License(s) and Certification(s):
Required Minimum Experience:
Minimum 2 years college.
Required Minimum Skills:
Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Must have excellent communication skills and be able to interact with a variety of stakeholders. Experience in research preferred.
