About the Position:
MLR is currently seeking an experienced Lead Microbiologist to join our central Connecticut team. In this critical role, you will oversee the microbiology laboratory’s daily operations, ensuring accuracy, quality, and regulatory compliance. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned microbiologist with strong leadership capabilities to guide a team while enhancing lab processes and outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership and Development:
• Lead a team of microbiologists and lab technicians, offering guidance, mentorship, and training.
• Conduct performance reviews, manage hiring processes, and promote continued staff development.
• Create and maintain laboratory procedures and ensure operational excellence across the team. - Technical Expertise:
• Oversee and refine microbiological testing methodologies, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
• Supervise sample preparation and analysis, including environmental, clinical, and pharmaceutical specimens.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges related to assays and lab equipment. - Quality Control & Regulatory Compliance:
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including FDA and ISO standards.
• Implement and monitor quality assurance procedures to maintain laboratory excellence.
• Maintain detailed records and prepare comprehensive reports on laboratory outcomes and activities. - Innovation and R&D Support:
• Work closely with R&D teams to contribute to new product development and validation efforts.
• Analyze and present data for research publications or presentations.
• Introduce new methodologies and technologies to enhance laboratory operations and functionality. - Operational Management:
• Oversee lab resources, including equipment upkeep, supply procurement, and inventory management.
• Manage laboratory budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources for projects and daily operations.
• Ensure that the lab complies with all safety regulations and maintains a well-organized, secure environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, or related discipline (Master’s or PhD preferred).
- At least 5 years of microbiology experience, with significant time spent in a leadership role.
- ASCP (M) certification preferred; ASCP (MLS) or AMT certification required.
