GENERAL SUMMARY:
Fill orders with accuracy; check technician prepared products before release; maintain security of pharmacy and controlled substances; enter orders and patient information with accuracy; aid in the training of new staff; update the Manager about the daily activities of the pharmacy; aid the Manager in maintaining the pharmacy. These duties are to be performed in a highly confidential manner, in accordance with the mission, values and behaviors of Insight Hospital and Medical Center. Employees are further expected to provide a high quality of care, service, and kindness toward all patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and guests.
DESCRIPTION:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Verify appropriateness of medication orders.
- Check dispensed medications for accuracy, sterility, stability, as appropriate.
- Review and optimize medication therapy.
- Provide medication therapy education to healthcare professionals, as requested.
- Provide patient counseling of medication therapies.
- Reports daily to Clinical Pharmacy Manager on overall operations, projects assigned, and expectations of overall role.
- Rotating AM&PM including weekends.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge:
- One year of hospital experience preferred. Licensed to practice in pharmacy in the state where the pharmacy is located. Graduate of a college of pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE). Doctor of Pharmacy degree preferred. Hospital pharmacy residency preferred. Very good drug knowledge base including pharmacokinetics dosing and nutritional support.
Skills:- Effective communication skills, verbal and written; working computer knowledge.
Abilities:- Repetitive use of hands and fingers (i.e., use of computer keyboard) and labeling containers. Normal range of hearing and vision to perform work and communicate. Extended periods of standing and walking. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
