Job Summary
The Rare Disease Specialist will compliantly market BioCryst products to our customers in the Hudson Valley area. NOTE: Candidate must live in the Hudson Valley/Poughkeepsie, NY area.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Have “game changing” conversations with our customers, compliantly utilizing effective selling techniques and marketing strategies to create and expand demand for any/all promoted brand(s) for which are responsible.
- Develop and expand a thorough understanding of key customers.
- Create, maintain and update an active customer database.
- Develop strategies to effectively utilize marketing materials and programs.
- Have a mastery of key account management.
- Develop exceptional business plans with resource allocations that link to strong business results.
- Be extremely customer-focused and able to build and foster strong positive relationships with key decision makers and opinion leaders.
- Arrange and coordinate effective promotional programs within all promotional and regulatory guidelines.
- Conduct essential field activities including, but not limited to, lunch and learns, customer in-services, and other compliant customer interactive activities.
- Complete expense reports and other required administrative reports in an accurate and timely manner.
- Report all call information in a timely fashion.
- Attend training programs, conventions, and symposia, as requested.
- Focus on the end results of the sales process, demonstrating personal accountability, a sense of urgency and commitment to achieve business objectives.
- Exemplify strong collaboration and teamwork with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proactively use resources and share best practices that lead to achieving or exceeding business goals.
- Adhere to all company compliance guidelines, policy, and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of pharmaceutical and/or biotech selling experience.
- Rare Disease and small company experience preferred.
- Start-up commercial experience a plus.
- Existing relationships with key accounts within assigned geography are helpful.
- Strong track record of successfully exceeding sales goals to include national awards such as President’s Club.
- Demonstrated success of selling in a territory where the candidate was the sole commercial salesperson.
- Proven ability to formulate and implement effective rare disease sales skills and results.
- Knowledge of relevant disease states and current treatments.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong business and analytical ability.
- Proven ability to create and innovate, build and expand business and work both independently as well as in teams.
- Ability to quickly assimilate complex information.
- Excellent negotiation skills.
- Knowledge of reimbursement.
- Knowledge of territory.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Ability to travel as necessary or required, which may include overnight and/or weekend travel.
The base salary range for this Poughkeepsie, NY based position is between $175,000 and $215,000 annually. This information reflects the anticipated salary range for this position based on current national data. Individual pay is based on a combination of skills, experience, education, and other relevant factors. This position will also be eligible to participate in the US Incentive Compensation Program. A competitive benefits package is also provided, including eligibility for stock options, restricted stock units, generous PTO package and parental leave, retirement plans with company contributions, and medical, dental, and vision insurance, subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plans and policies.
