Nurse Manager, Ambulatory Care Unit (ACU) and Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) – Biddeford and Sanford
- The ideal candidate for this role wants to educate and advocate while leading a team by example.
- Solid leadership, communication and emotional intelligence are necessary to oversee and encourage a team while reaching unit goals and providing excellent patient care.
- Experience in ACU and/or PACU setting and leadership is necessary.
Surgical services are available at both the Biddeford and Sanford locations for Maine Medical Center.
Ambulatory Surgical Unit (ASU) – Biddeford Campus
The Ambulatory Surgical Unit (ASU) provides preoperative and postoperative care to patients undergoing outpatient (day surgery); Recovers and prepares the outpatient populations for discharge and care for patients during procedures in the Anesthesia Procedure room.
Ambulatory Surgical Unit (ASU) – Sanford Campus
The Ambulatory Surgical Unit (ASU) provides preoperative and postoperative care to patients undergoing outpatient (day surgery); Recovers and prepares the outpatient populations for discharge and care for patients during procedures in the Anesthesia Procedure room. The Sanford campus caters to orthopedics, ophthalmology, podiatry, pain management and general surgery.
Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) / Recovery – Biddeford Campus
Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) / Recovery is a recovery room where patients who have had surgery or diagnostic procedures requiring anesthesia or sedation are monitored after surgery. A critical care unit where the patient's vital signs are closely observed, pain management begins, and fluids are given. This area allows patients to regain consciousness and fully emerge from the effects of anesthesia under the supervision of skilled nurses.
Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) / Recovery – Sanford Campus
Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) / Recovery is a 5 Bed recovery room where patients who have had surgery or diagnostic procedures requiring anesthesia or sedation are monitored after surgery. A critical care unit where the patient's vital signs are closely observed, pain management begins, and fluids are given. This area allows patients to regain consciousness and fully emerge from the effects of anesthesia under the supervision of skilled nurses.
Position Summary
The Nurse Manager has 24-hour accountability for the provision of nursing services on their unit. S/he is responsible for maintaining systems and procedures that will ensure quality patient care, promote cost effectiveness, educate and support competent nursing practice. The Nurse Manager skills entail coaching, motivating and leading a professional team to provide safe and effective care.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing desired. Masters in Nursing preferred.
- License/Certifications: Current registered nurse licensure by the Maine State Board of Nursing. Certification in Nursing leadership is desired.
- Experience: Minimum of three years' knowledge and experience in Management preferred.
- Strong customer service and communication skills required.
- Extensive interaction with physicians, intra- and interdepartmental staff members, patient and family members, office staff and professional organizations outside the hospital setting.
- Visual and mental concentration required for updating policies and practices, performance reviews and coordinating scheduling needs.
