The Director of Outpatient Therapy is responsible for the efficient operations of rehabilitation services in his/her assigned community. The Director of Outpatient Therapy ensures the delivery of the highest standard and quality of rehabilitation services are delivered efficiently while obtaining the best possible outcomes for patients.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with the Regional Director, ensures the clinical management of the rehab department. Through the appropriate utilization of resources provides oversight related to case management, quality improvement, and care planning.
- Manages a team of therapists and assistants and assumes responsibility for daily staffing and utilization, including scheduling.
- Provides direct patient care and regularly achieves prescribed productivity standards of assigned discipline and location.
- Administers proper oversight of expenses (overtime, productivity, staff utilization, etc.) to optimize revenue in assigned location.
- Assumes responsibility for timely completion of facility reports on a weekly and as needed basis.
- Partners with rehab staff and facility staff (Administrator, nursing, etc.) to ensure delivery of the highest level of clinical care is provided to achieve best possible outcomes for patients.
- Ensures compliance with company and facility policies, procedures and practices and reports variances.
- Participates in patient, family and assigned facility meetings as appropriate.
- Responds to and is available to facility needs. This may include on-occasion evenings and/or weekends.
- Communicates timely and professionally with rehabilitation and facility staff, patients, families, healthcare providers and other customers promoting a positive work environment.
- Promotes new program development with focus on functional outcomes to improve the quality of life of the patients served.
- Coordinates and/or participates in training programs for facility staff, patients, families and rehabilitation staff.
- Assists the Regional Director in the recruitment, interview process and orientation of rehab department staff.
- Oversees patient treatment productivity of therapy staff and addresses through coaching performance plans areas for improvement.
- Assumes responsibility for conducting or coordinating timely completion of annual performance appraisals for therapy staff. Confers with Regional Director on performance and merit reviews.
- Participates in marketing and community presentations and projects to promote the success of the company and assigned community.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience
- 1 (one) year of clinical therapy experience. Experience in skilled or outpatient therapy setting and leadership role preferred.
- Experience with NetHealth preferred.
License/Certifications
Successful completion of an accredited program for Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech Language Pathology.
- Valid license or eligible for licensure to practice therapy (PT, OT, or SLP) in applicable state(s).
