Job Summary and Qualifications
- Demonstrates the ability to adapt technique/treatment to age of population served, including newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, while providing care/service with respect to cultural differences and spiritual needs.
- Positions and prepares patients for exams according to the type of procedure to be performed.
- Performs procedures and assesses patients throughout and responds to patients' needs as appropriate.
- Completes appropriate documentation for each study performed.
- Performs all computer and PACS functions.
- Observes safety regulations and aseptic practice techniques to protect patients and staff.
- Demonstrates knowledge of Universal protocols.
- Uses professional judgment and critical thinking when performing procedures.
- Participates in orientation and training of new staff members and instructs students during their clinical rotations.
- Operates radiation-producing equipment and applies radiation-protection techniques to take radiographs in environments including Fluoroscopy, the Operating Room, the Emergency Department, and portable exams.
- Operates radiation-producing equipment and performs advanced competencies in at least 2 of the following environments: mammography, dexa, fluoroscopy, pediatric fluoroscopy, the Operating Room general c-arm procedures, the Operating Room advanced technologies and procedures.
- Performs computed radiography functions throughout the medical center.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
What qualifications you will need:
Required Registration, Licensure or Certification:
- Current registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
- Current advanced CT registry.
- Certification as a Radiologic Technologist by the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts within 90 days of hire.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) verification course through the American Heart Assoc. or American Red Cross - Healthcare Provider CPR.
Required Education or Experience: Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
Preferred Education or Experience: One year of experience in an Imaging Department.
Required Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrated competencies and scheduled to rotate work assignments in at least 2 of the following areas: Mammography, Dexa, Fluoroscopy, Pediatric Fluoroscopy, the Operating Room general c-arm procedures, the Operating Room advanced technologies and procedures.
