Position Highlights:

Position: RN Triage
Location: 1200 S York Rd, Elmhurst, IL
Full Time 36 hours per week
Hours: Monday-Friday 8a-430 or 8a-5 or 8:30-5. No weekends
Required Travel: Yes (Woodridge, Addison, Lombard, and Oak Park)

What you will do:

Review patient voicemails and talk directly to patients on the telephone or via MyChart, directing them to the appropriate level of care (emergency department, urgent care centers, physician office) per protocol or providing appropriate home medical advice.
Conduct patient telephone assessments utilizing nursing skills to determine problems, intervening according to the patient's needs, and giving instructions to patient/caregiver. Evaluate the patient's and caregiver's understanding of instructions using teach-back methodology and convey related information and issues to appropriate clinical staff by telephone or by utilizing the EMR.
Send patients with high-risk chief complaints such as chest pain, abdominal pain, or severe headaches, or signs and symptoms of stroke to the emergency department immediately.
Arrange appointments for patients who do not need to go to the emergency department but need to see a physician.
Escort patients to examination rooms, obtain and electronically record vital signs, reason for visit, and other patient data. Make patients comfortable while waiting for the provider.
Prepare patients for exams and/or procedures. Set up rooms with necessary equipment.
Perform all immunizations and assist with diagnostic and other in-office procedures (i.e., colposcopy, LEEP, ESSURE, ablation, lab tests, venipuncture, specimen collection, etc.).

What you will need:

Bachelor's Degree in Science preferred.
1 year of telephone triage experience preferred, preferably in a medical practice setting.
Registered Nurse (RN) - Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse licensure required.
American Red Cross CPR - Current CPR certification issued by the American Heart Association required.
