SENIOR RADIATION PROTECTION OFFICER, Environment, Health, and Safety Office (EHS), to join the Radiation Protection Program (RPP) Team and serve in a leadership role; providing expert advice and service to support the Institute's academic and business objectives with due consideration of radiation protection, occupational health and safety laws, federal and state regulations, and accepted good practices. Will assist the RPP Director and Associate Directors in the management of the specific RPP programs, in both ionizing and nonionizing radiation applications; function as an integral member of a multi-disciplinary EHS office; provide advice on research, operations, projects, and experiments relative to radiation safety concerns; and assume and maintain a significant management role in the RP Program and a leadership role in the control of ionizing and nonionizing hazards in the workplace.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor's degree in health physics or an EHS related discipline and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in environment, health and safety programs demonstrating the ability to recognize, evaluate, and control hazardous materials, conditions, and physical agents; expertise in environment, health and safety with emphasis on EHS programs; expert knowledge of regulations depending on the discipline, specific to federal, state, local and consensus standards including NRC, MRCP, OSHA, EPA, DOT, ANSI and IEEE; evidence of leadership skills; ability to develop and implement well integrated EHS programs within the workplace and to achieve objectives and tasks in a timely manner; excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills; basic computer and database skills; and possess the following behavioral traits: client orientation, collaboration, accountability, professionalism, and a willingness to work hard. PREFERRED: master's degree with experience in radiation protection programs and professional certification.
