Job Title: Shared Facility Director / Remote Sensing Supervisor
Responsibilities:
- Manages the day-to-day operations of shared equipment in a research facility.
- Supervises administrative and technical staff related to the running of the facility.
- Develops and implements protocols to facilitate user research.
- Trains users on the operation and safe use of facility and equipment.
- Maintains safety and regulatory compliance of facility and equipment.
- Manages research, consults on research design, and projects associated with research of users.
- Supports quality, integrity, and security of data outputs of equipment.
- Designs research processes, implements and projects cost estimates.
- In close collaboration with Business Office, develops sound business procedures for accurate scheduling and billing. Maintains source documentation for cost accounting purposes.
- Interacts with vendors, suppliers, manufacturing companies, and other research institutions to develop and design specialized equipment and protocols.
- Exchanges technical information and stays abreast of new research technologies and safety advances.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Experienced in satellite image analysis and Google Earth Engine.
- Skilled in configuring desktops, working with gridded climate data, and using tools like ENVI, GDAL, GRASS, and Awk.
- Proficient in Python, R, and other programming languages.
- Knowledgeable about remote sensing data products, satellite data portals, and basic GIS applications.
Preferred Education:
PhD in environmental or earth sciences, computer science, or related discipline and five years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Drone pilot license preferred.
Work Week: Standard (M-F equal number of hours per day)
