Under the supervision of the Pharmacist, assists in maintaining the Pharmacy inventory and clerical duties. Communicates effectively with customers, employees, and patients. Exhibits integrity, honesty, and attention to detail. Able to comply with HIPAA standards regarding patient medical records.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Administrative Functions:
- Type prescription labels accurately using the Pharmacy Computer system.
- Receive refill requests directly from patients or by telephone and document accurately.
- Dispense refill medication to patients and maintain refill documents.
- Knowledge of 3rd party billing and Medi-Cal.
- Operate cash register and handle transactions accurately.
- Update 3rd party billing and allergy information from patients/customers.
- File new prescriptions and media treatment authorization requests.
- Other related duties and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate of approved high school or GED equivalent.
- Must have a valid California driver’s license.
- Basic computer skills are required to perform basic data entry.
- All staff presently working within a clinic are required to have a Current and Valid CPR and First Aid certification on file with the Human Resources Department. This is for clinical and administrative staff. This new license requirement is mandatory for continued employment. CPR and First Aid certification must be obtained through the American Heart Association. Internet certificates do not comply and, for this reason, are not valid.
