JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Clinical Audiologist evaluates, treats, and counsels patients with hearing and/or vestibular disorders to improve communication function at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center Audiology clinic. This position initiates collaboration with the health care teams within and outside the UTHSC Audiology & Speech Pathology clinic to meet patient care and improve outcomes. This position participates in clinical education through student supervision of Audiology Clinical Doctoral students and supports the clinical education mission of the UTHSC Doctor of Audiology degree program. CONTINUATION OF THIS POSITION IS CONTINGENT UPON REVENUE GENERATION YEAR TO YEAR.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide direct patient care within the Hearing and Speech Center.
- Supervises doctoral audiology students in the UTHSC Audiology Clinic.
- Charts management including service notes, patient correspondence, and billing entries.
- Tracks patient data through third-party platforms.
- Collaborates with faculty and staff to promote patient care and student education through attendance at clinical Audiology meetings, progress and promotion meetings, etc.
- Collaborates in student research projects related to clinical audiology and clinical areas of interest.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: Doctoral Degree in Audiology (Au.D.) (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of clinical direct care Audiology practice experience. Must be licensed in Tennessee to practice Audiology. Must possess ASHA certification in Audiology (CCC-A) and meet AHSA requirements for clinical supervision of students. Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to provide assessment and treatment services to adults with hearing impairment.
- Knowledgeable in completing full diagnostic hearing assessments for adults and pediatric populations using the appropriate testing method and equipment for the patient type, diagnosis, and reason for referral.
- Ability to formulate and/or implement a treatment plan inclusive of hearing aid amplification to address deficits and patient/family areas of concern.
- Organization skills are necessary to create and maintain accurate electronic medical records related to patient care.
- Experience providing education/consultation to patients, families, healthcare teams, and the community.
- Experience coordinating diagnostic information with referral sources including physicians and other healthcare providers.
