Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Clinical Nurse Coordinator for the Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery Clinic at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
The Clinical Nurse Coordinator will assist the clinical team in coordinating the care of these complex patients, act as a resource to the patient and family, provide in-depth patient education about the disease process, necessary aspects of care, and general inquiries. Act as a liaison to other departments and the hospital to support and advocate for the patients. Work collaboratively with all aspects of the department.
Key Duties
- Coordinates and navigates outpatient care for patients.
- Provides initial detailed patient and family needs assessment and periodically updates needs assessment throughout the course of treatment.
- Develops disease site expertise and provides patient and family education.
- Coordinates care and routine visits, diagnostic tests, or screenings throughout the 5 years post-surgical intervention.
- Educates patient and family regarding any concerns related to their healthcare.
- Works with Chief to prepare for and document mandatory clinical conference to discuss patient care with multidisciplinary team as appropriate.
- Participates in any patient care conferences.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
- Three (3) years of clinical experience in a relevant clinical specialty.
- Experience with EPIC and Navinet.
Certifications/Licenses
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey.
- Current certification in American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong organizational, time management, critical thinking RN skills.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in interactions with physicians, APNs, patients, and their families.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively resolve patient inquiries and employee issues.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Knowledge of current Medicare/Medicaid and HMO commercial insurance regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Physical Demands: Standing, sitting, walking, talking, or hearing. No special vision requirements.
- Work Environment: Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic).
