The Northcott Lab is comprised of a focused team of bioinformaticians and biologists using genomic approaches to decipher pediatric brain tumor biology. The Lead Researcher performs a variety of moderately complex research tasks determined by the field and scope of the particular research project/study; performs tasks related to the research project independently, but within broad guidelines and subject to periodic review by supervisor or other research staff.
Join a cutting-edge research team in the Northcott Lab dedicated to understanding and combating pediatric brain tumors.
As a Lead Researcher, you will play a pivotal role in unraveling the complex biological mechanisms underlying medulloblastoma, a devastating childhood cancer.
Your work will involve:
- Employing state-of-the-art genomic techniques to identify genes and pathways driving tumorigenesis.
- Investigating the cellular origins and developmental trajectories of pediatric brain tumors.
- Generating and utilizing preclinical models that accurately recapitulate the molecular features of these tumors.
- Leveraging bulk and single-cell approaches to decipher the molecular landscapes and developmental origins of medulloblastoma.
Job Responsibilities:
- Performs laboratory experiments using existing, modified or newly developed techniques/protocols.
- Sets up protocols, troubleshoots experiments using new or modified laboratory techniques.
- Identifies experimental data pertinent to the analysis problem. Processes, organizes and summarizes data and reports results.
- May assist in the drafting and editing of manuscripts.
- Provides basic lab operation support to include equipment maintenance and purchasing. Monitors inventory and orders lab supplies as needed. Performs calibration of instruments and equipment as necessary.
