Job Description
The Radiation Therapist I works under the direction of the Radiation Therapist II, Radiation Therapist III, Radiation Therapy Coordinator, Radiation Oncologist, and Medical Physics team to carry out specialized procedures that focus on delivering high doses of radiation through linear accelerators. Responsibilities include administering ionizing radiation to patients in accordance with the prescription and instructions of the Radiation Oncologist, demonstrating a working knowledge of the special care required for patients of all age groups, and pre-treatment preparation of all cases, including Daily Treatment, CT Simulation, Clinical Simulation, and Emergency Simulation. Accurate delivery of the prescribed planned course of radiation is essential.
Additional Job Description
Education: Graduate from an accredited Radiation Therapy program and registry eligible with ARRT. Certification: After ARRT certification is obtained, licensure from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA) is required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required, either from the American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
