The BILH Nursing Mission is to build on a legacy of nursing excellence by caring with compassion, advancing the art & science of nursing, and advocating for the health of patients in the home setting. The Home Infusion Nurse Manager supervises components of care coordination and nursing services for a patient admitted onto BILH Home Infusion services. This role is patient-focused, outcome-oriented and based on general and specialty professional standards, while functioning within a multidisciplinary practice model. This position is responsible for the day-to day operation and supervision of clinic, field and office clinicians & support staff. Focus will include staff development, mentoring, recruiting, retention & training.
Primary Responsibilities:
Be the role model for excellence in leadership, quality, patient experience, staff experience and service excellence.
Be responsible for the effective selection, development and performance management of staff. Ensures the right talent is in place to achieve staff experience, clinical & patient experience, quality and financial goals. Works collaboratively with Human Resources to recruit, hire, and retain qualified personnel.
Manage the onboarding and training of new clinical team members (MA, LPN and RN).
Manage required competencies & continued skills verification for existing clinical team members (MA, LPN and RN)
Participates in the development of education materials for patients, families, and staff. Collaborates with Quality and Safety and/or Nursing Professional Development as needed.
Maintains effective open communication across all areas to ensure alignment of programs, services, and outcomes. Coaches and supports staff by removing barriers and addressing issues.
Maintains thorough understanding of system policies and protocols, and practices within those policies and protocols, ensuring compliance. Demonstrates competency with all regulatory expectations and guidelines (i.e. ACHC, CDC, DPH, and Joint Commission).
Participates in the development and implementation of standards of nursing care practice. Utilizes knowledge of nursing research to support and advance professional nursing practice.
Critically analyzes research studies to justify inclusion/exclusion of findings into practice.
Assures that department activities and records meet the standards of accrediting, regulatory or reimbursement agencies.
Responsible for ongoing process improvement efforts in all assigned areas to meet or exceed benchmarks in key areas. Goal is to provide an efficient, safe, effective, and productive patient care.
Establishes ongoing communication mechanisms with patients, staff, physicians, as well as the hospital and referring communities through regularly scheduled meetings and other forms of written communication.
Coordinates the care of patients and directs assistive personnel in order to provide safe, effective, efficient, equitable and timely, patient-centered care.
Demonstrates awareness of environmental forces on health care of patients and their families.
Demonstrates the ability to identify resources necessary to implement the plan of care.
Assists the team in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. Serves as an internal consultant for difficult and/or complex patient care needs. Promotes clinical critical thinking & planning skills.
Be able to provide direct patient care if/when needed
Act as subject matter expert during evaluation of new clinical equipment
Reviews all safety incident reports, for completeness and clarity of the episode/problem. Report all negative outcomes of such episodes and problem solve with other managers to prevent further negative outcomes.
Advances professional nursing practice through publication and/or membership participation in professional nursing organizations and best practice research.
Represents the nursing discipline on system committees and or initiatives.
Participates in the educational experiences of students on clinical rotations through affiliated schools.
Required Qualifications:
Current licensure from the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing.
Flexibility with hours worked to provide support evenings/weekends/holidays
Participation in on-call responsibilities as an Administrator & Clinician
Minimum BSN or in process required
Current BLS certification
5 years of Infusion related experience required.
3 years of supervisory or management experience
Demonstrates the necessary clinical competence in area of home care nursing practice.
Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
