Hope For Youth has a Therapist position open in its Intensive Prevention Services Program to Nassau County in collaboration with Nassau County Department of Social Services. This program, called HEART - Helping Enhance Attachments & Remain Together, assists with:
- Diverting a disruption of a family that will or could result in the imminent placement of a child in foster care;
- Enabling a child who has been placed in foster care to return to his/her family at an earlier time other than would otherwise be possible;
- Reducing the likelihood that a child who has been discharged from foster care would return to such care.
Hope For Youth is offering a $1000 sign on bonus for this position.
This program utilizes Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), an intervention for children from birth through age 6 who have experienced at least one traumatic event, for example, neglect, family conflict or the sudden traumatic loss of someone close and as a result are experiencing attachment or behavior challenges. HFY will train in the model.
The primary goal of CPP is to support and strengthen the relationship between a child and his or her parent (or caregiver) as a vehicle for restoring the child's sense of safety, attachment, and appropriate affect and improving the child's cognitive, behavioral, and social functioning.
The program provides case management and therapeutic services to 50 clinical cases, shared amongst therapists, and provides additional case management for 100 cases annually. The treatment modalities used in the program are evidence-based. The current open position is for a CPP Therapist. Candidates should have experience working with both adults and children utilizing a trauma-focused lens. If not yet trained in the CPP model, CPP training will be provided. Hours accumulated can be used toward LCSW licensing.
