Performs diagnostic medical procedures producing diagnostic medical radiographs. Reports to the charge radiographers. Serves as a resource for coworkers, physicians, patients, and other hospital personnel. Coaches and counsels assigned employees to an optimal level of performance. Assists with the ongoing process of Performance Management of assigned employees. Directs and supervises functions and activities in the area in the absence of manager. Interprets and implements policies, procedures, standards, and regulations.
Responsibilities
Performs radiographic examinations using C-arms, portable and stationary radiographic imaging equipment. Develops film including evaluating film for technical quality. Transports patients to radiographic room; prepares and maintains room. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Checks equipment, supplies, and accessories on a regular basis. Maintains x-ray and other equipment in efficient operating order; performs preventative maintenance on a regularly scheduled basis; contacts outside service for major malfunctions. Maintains clean and orderly work areas. Requests and orders supplies as necessary to keep materials on hand at all times. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, Inservice meetings, and workshops. Prepares written documentation as required by the profession and the department, such as evaluation results, individualized treatment plans, progress reports, etc. Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree or graduate of a radiologic technology program preferred. Sufficient previous experience in a radiology department preferred. Must demonstrate ability to recognize patients' individual needs based on medical conditions, age, limitations, and planned procedures.
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and registration/licensure as required, BLS certification.
