Job Description: General Description:
Under general supervision, performs basic processing and microscopic evaluation of Cytology specimens.
Essential Responsibilities:

- Receives and prepares specimens for analysis according to specifications related to the type of specimen.
- Performs routine screening of Gyn and Non-Gyn Cytology specimens.
- Assists in the collection and processing of fine needle aspiration specimens.
- Conducts quality control procedures as needed.
- Results and electronically signs out appropriate Cytology reports.
- Assists in the training of students and/or residents.
General Responsibilities:
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in biological science and graduation from an accredited Cytotechnology training program required.
Experience: None required.
Licensure/Certifications/Registrations Required:
- Eligible for registration as a Cytotechnologist (CT) or Specialist in Cytotechnology (SCT) with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) obtained within nine (9) months of hire.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of laboratory principles and techniques and medical cytology terminology.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others.
- Proficient with the use of Microsoft Office tools.
