Hanwha Aerospace USA is looking for an experienced, high energy, dynamic individual to join their corporate Human Resources Team. The Learning and Development Manager will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing training programs and curriculum tailored to both leadership and hourly employees within an aerospace manufacturing environment. This role focuses on fostering growth, enhancing skills, and ensuring continuous improvement in both leadership and technical competencies that align with the company’s strategic goals and compliance standards.
A successful candidate will need to work in partnership with the business leadership to conceptualize, design, and implement solutions that support business goals and drive results.
Location: Based out of Cheshire, CT, multi-site travel

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Curriculum Development for Leadership:
- Design and deliver leadership training programs tailored to the needs of the organization, focusing on team management, communication, conflict resolution, and strategic thinking.
- Develop career pathing programs for aspiring leaders within the manufacturing facility, ensuring alignment with the company’s long-term objectives.
- Utilize leadership models and frameworks specific to the aerospace industry to enhance decision-making and problem-solving skills among supervisors and managers.
- Facilitate workshops and development programs that focus on coaching, mentoring, and performance management for leaders.
Hourly Employee Development:
- Create and manage technical training programs for hourly employees focused on job-specific skills such as safety protocols, quality assurance, equipment operation, and process optimization.
- Implement on-the-job training (OJT) programs and hands-on workshops to improve proficiency and safety awareness among employees.
- Develop educational materials and job aids to enhance the understanding of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and regulatory requirements specific to the aerospace manufacturing industry.
- Partner with manufacturing leaders to assess the skills gaps and create customized training plans for shop-floor employees.
Learning Strategy and Needs Assessment:
- Conduct training needs assessments by collaborating with department heads, production supervisors, and human resources to identify areas for development.
- Develop a comprehensive learning and development strategy that addresses current workforce needs, future growth, and technology advancements within aerospace manufacturing.
- Implement training programs that support certifications, safety regulations, and industry-specific standards (e.g., ISO, AS9100).
Program Delivery and Facilitation:
- Lead and facilitate in-person and virtual training sessions using modern adult learning principles and techniques to engage both leadership and hourly employees.
- Partner with external training vendors or subject matter experts (SMEs) as needed to deliver specialized content.
- Manage Learning Management Systems (LMS) to track employee progress, course completions, and ensure all certifications are up to date.
Continuous Improvement and Evaluation:
- Measure the effectiveness of training programs through assessments, evaluations, and performance metrics to ensure continuous improvement.
- Provide ongoing coaching and development opportunities for employees, reinforcing key learning objectives and skills in the workplace.
- Stay current on aerospace manufacturing trends, learning technologies, and workforce development strategies to enhance training delivery.
Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure that all training programs meet the regulatory requirements and compliance standards set by federal and aerospace industry organizations.
- Maintain accurate training records and provide reports to leadership on learning outcomes, employee development, and ROI of training initiatives.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Education, Organizational Development, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a learning and development role, preferably within aerospace or manufacturing.
- Experience in developing and implementing training programs for both leadership and hourly employees.
- Strong knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design, and curriculum development.
- Familiarity with aerospace industry standards (e.g., AS9100, FAA regulations) and their application to workforce training.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage a diverse workforce.
- Proficiency in Learning Management Systems (LMS) and e-learning tools.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess training effectiveness.
- Must be a “US Person” as defined by US Government and able to work without restriction with ITAR related data.
- Must be able to read, write, understand, and speak English at a functional level.
- Various other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
- Participate in training as required.
- 5-10% Domestic Travel required.

Regularly required to sit, stand, reach, bend, and move about our facility.
Work Environment:
Work usually performed in a combination of office and plant setting.
