- Treat populations adversely affected by chemical exposures.

- Offer training programs for environmental health professionals.

Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey has opening for a Per Diem Staff Nurse for the Clinical Research and Occupational Medicine Division within the Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute, located in Piscataway, NJ. Under the direction of the Department Administrator, will in accordance with professional nursing standards, skillfully administer total patient care based on the individualized needs of assigned patients and families. Expected to work 1-2 weekdays (M-F) each week.
Duties include:
- Assessment and nursing care for occupational, non-occupational illness and injuries, World Trade Center, and surveillance patients.
- Responds to medical emergencies on Piscataway Campus.
- Reviews programmatic medical claims for clinical appropriateness. Assess pre- and post- authorization compliance and assist in auditing activities to ensure medical records are complete and in accordance with federal standards.
- Possesses the nursing, laboratory, and technical skills necessary to conduct occupational medical surveillance examinations.
- Performs medical screenings such as vision, vital signs, immunizations, audiograms, pulmonary function tests, and EKGs.
- Collaborates with other members of the occupational health team such as physicians, supervisors, healthcare professionals, administrative staff, government officials, Third Party Administrators, and Human Resources.
- Maintains medical records in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system in accordance with established guidelines.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a license to practice in the State of New Jersey and at least two (2) years of relevant experience.
- Current CPR certification required.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word), Spirometer, and EKG.
Preferred Qualifications
- BSN preferred.
- Experience with RWJBH EPIC system preferred.
- Occupational Health experience preferred.
