About the role: As a Team Leader, you will oversee and guide the development, analysis, implementation, market delivery, and performance analysis of pharmacy solutions with an emphasis on driving go-to market strategy for Wellmark’s pharmacy programs. In this client-facing role on the Pharmacy team, you will support clinical program sales and identified Request for Proposal (RFP) efforts. As a change champion, you will help guide the vision and direction through supporting new pharmacy sales growth, development and retention by bringing clinical programs to clients.
Cross-functional alignment is critical for Wellmark to continue innovating in our Pharmacy space, so you will engage and maintain transparent communication across the organization to bring all stakeholders along on our transformative journey. As a people-leader, you will guide, mentor, and build an evolving team of insightful, forward-thinking, data-driven pharmacy colleagues. You will encourage proactive solutions to innovate and drive new cost-effective and/or growth-focused pharmacy strategies.

This position will work a hybrid schedule of at least 3 days in Wellmark's Des Moines office, with 2 days remote option. As a leader, there may be additional days in the office to meet business needs.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Managed Care experience within a PBM or health plan.
- Experience with pharmacy strategy planning and development.
- Experience partnering with sales or account management.
Required Qualifications:
- PharmD with an active and unrestricted Pharmacy license in Iowa or South Dakota.
- 4+ years of direct and applicable work experience in pharmacy product and program development or program management, or related role, with demonstrated financial acumen, including an understanding of underwriting, financial metrics, etc. Prior experience should reflect the ability to build, implement, and drive forward pharmacy strategies that achieve bottom-line results.
- Health care, pharmacy, or related industry experience, including knowledge of products, benefit design, etc.
- Formal or informal leadership experience. Ability to coach, mentor, train and provide feedback.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate insights and recommendations with stakeholders and senior leadership.
- Advanced consulting skills. Must be able to understand the needs of others, ask meaningful questions, distill large amounts of information into relevant insights, and develop solutions. Ability to influence and solicit cooperation and consensus from stakeholders.
- Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills. Ability to rigorously guide and conduct return on investment analyses.
- Ability to make data-driven business decisions.
- Knowledge of current and future customer needs, including the ability to translate these into competitive products and services.
- Ability to measure and evaluate work processes, services, and products in order to ensure alignment with strategic goals. Ability to re-design or improve processes as needed.

What you will do:
- Provide day-to-day leadership of human and financial resources, primarily focusing on pharmacy solutions team coaching, development, performance improvement, coordination and budgeting for staff and department specific functions/services.
- Oversee and guide the creation, maintenance, and execution of a pharmacy solutions plan. Focused on positioning Wellmark as the leader in delivering lowest total costs of care, while drawing from data and research to provide recommendations to advance key objectives and results. Impact client satisfaction by developing solutions that are focused on providing effective pharmacy trend management solutions.
- Align solutions with market insights and cost/benefit analyses to deploy solutions that meet the needs of our current and future clients. In collaboration with internal stakeholders, identify and evaluate new solution opportunities (new solutions, enhancements to existing solutions, vendor offerings, local partnerships) to increase membership and profitability. Drive prioritization of solutions by securing buy-in from leadership.
- Collaborate with actuarial resources to identify and evaluate pricing strategies for solutions.
- Provide status updates and recommendations to obtain leadership buy-in as appropriate.
- Build strong relationships and collaborate with segment performance, marketing communications, sales, network, health and care management, provider relations and other stakeholders as needed. Work with these business areas to collaborate and ensure strategies are aligned to our corporate initiatives. Lead the team to ensure solutions are efficiently and accurately portrayed in communication mediums (web, print, mobile, etc.) to customers, distribution channels and others.
- Work with the Analytics team to monitor and measure the performance of pharmacy programs and solutions. Collaborate with Client Consulting to develop client reporting in conjunction with the rollout of new solutions.
- In collaboration with the Vendor Management team, effectively manage and maintain relationships with vendors, customers and/or other external partners.
- Lead the team in collaboration with Sales Training to anticipate, design, and develop training to ensure our internal and external distribution channels are fully equipped with the knowledge and tools they need to sell our solutions successfully in the market.
- Assist in the achievement of Wellmark’s corporate membership growth, trend, profitability, and Member Loyalty Index (MLI) goals.
- Other duties as assigned.
