Senior Case Manager - Queens Family Court
Summary:
The Senior Case Manager provides direct assistance, either in-person or telephonically, to victims of crime and abuse, specializing in working with survivors of intimate partner and family violence (includes sexual assault and families of homicide victims). The Senior Case Manager will provide services to victims of crime and abuse.
Responsibilities:
- Learn and integrate a trauma-informed, client-centered approach, using an anti-oppressive lens, into your work with clients.
- Conduct client-centered safety assessments and risk management planning.
- Provide crisis intervention and direct assistance to victims of crime and abuse; develop creative solutions reflecting clients’ unique needs in collaboration with clients.
- Advocate for clients for public entitlements with systems and other agencies, where necessary, such as obtaining orders of protection, help with hospital/medical related needs; Office of Victims Services compensation, and relocation assistance.
- Provide information and referrals and facilitate linkages for clients for services such as shelters, mental health treatment, public assistance, and other entitlements based on assessment and clients’ needs.
- Assess for and provide emergency practical assistance for clients including transportation, food vouchers, financial assistance, and lock replacement in accordance with agency policy.
- Engage in regular supervision meetings with supervisors to review cases, reflect on client interaction, and build skills.
- Maintain thorough and accurate case records and statistics in a web-based case management system.
- Collect client data, test new interventions, and track outcomes.
- Participate in staff meetings, individual and group supervision, community meetings, and relevant trainings and seminars.
- Conduct educational presentations and trainings and participate in outreach events for community groups about intimate partner and family violence, victim assistance resources, and other related topics.
- Work collaboratively with other Safe Horizon programs to facilitate linkages for clients.

Qualifications:
Knowledge and Skills:
Required:
- Must be sensitive towards and understanding of victimization;
- Must be able to demonstrate respect, compassion, and a non-judgmental approach to victims of crime and abuse;
- Must be willing to participate in a learning community;
- Must be well organized and detail-oriented;
- Must demonstrate the ability to work independently and be resourceful;
- Must demonstrate leadership skills (acts as a “go-to” person for colleagues, takes initiative; suggests ways to make processes work better);
- Must be a team player;
- Possess strong communication and organizational skills;
- Excellent interpersonal skills – must have the ability to be assertive;
- Able to work under pressure in a calm and reassuring manner;
- Bilingual Spanish.
Education:
- A Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Social Work, Psychology, Human Services etc.) or equivalent experience is preferred.
Experience:
- At least three years of prior direct service experience in a social service setting is required – Or- a minimum of two years of case management experience at Safe Horizon is preferred.
- Experience working with survivors of intimate partner and family violence and other victims of crime.

Hiring Range: 23.63 - 26.58 Hourly
Full-time Hours: 35 Hours per week
