General Summary: A nonexempt position responsible for performing diagnostic testing by taking images of patients using a computerized MRI scanner.
Position: Full-Time
Hours: M-F, 10A-7P
- Completes accurate MRI imaging of patients
- Explains test procedures to patients and prepares dosages of gadolinium.
- Administers gadolinium to patients by IV injection. Positions patients on table. Adheres to safety standards that keep the patients and workers as safe as possible.
- Starts the MRI scanner, which creates images of the distribution of gadolinium as it localizes in the patient’s body. Operates the computer to detect any abnormalities in the patient’s body to create diagnostic images.
- Produces the images on a computer screen or on film for a physician to interpret.
- Keeps patient records and log of patients scanned daily.
- Performs quality control measures to assure accuracy of procedural results. Reports to Supervisor any safety concerns.
- Verification and identification of all patients.
- Maintains equipment and utilizes protective devices to ensure patient and employee safety.
- Work area is organized, restocked, cleaned to ensure immediate availability for next procedure.
Education: Completion of formal radiological technology training, registered with American Registry of Radiology Technologists and is in good standing. Completion of an accredited MRI technology program and passing state MRI licensing exam preferred. Should complete continuing education requirements to maintain current ARRT certification.
Experience: One year of job-related course work or previous experience preferred.
