An exciting role as a Reactor Room Chemist Level I based in Danbury, Connecticut.
Shifts are on a fixed schedule of three, twelve-hour shifts (3×12) a week. Straight days or straight nights.
Current 12-hour fixed shifts:
- Shift 2: Sun – Tue, 6:00pm – 6:30 am (Wed) (Additional shift differential included)
- Shift 3: Wed – Fri, 6:00am – 6:30pm.
- Shift 4: Wed – Fri, 6:00pm – 6:30am (Sat) (Additional shift differential included)
This function conducts processing operations related to the production of organic chemicals using synthetic chemical methods and related support systems. This involves a range of activities including:
- Setting up and adjusting chemical production equipment, operating heating, cooling, and vacuum and pressure systems.
- Transporting, weighing, mixing, and pumping chemical materials.
- Monitoring processing steps to ensure product quality, lot consistency, and yields.
- Controlling process parameters through proper adjustments of feed rates, cooling and/or heating.
- Using analytical equipment for assessing in-process and final product status, interpreting results with supervision.
- Serving as a technical resource for Production Technicians.
- Maintaining all necessary production, safety, inventory, training, and other records and/or logs as required, in written and/or computer format.
- Ensuring proper care, safety, maintenance, and usage of technology, equipment, and/or systems.
- Receiving and carrying out instructions on specific assignment objectives.
- Complying with all BRI environmental and safety policies and procedures.
- Performing related work as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the principles and techniques of organic and analytical chemistry.
- BS/BA in Chemistry or related field is generally preferred.
- Knowledge of piping and valve operations to control reactions.
- Ability to use interchangeably metric and U.S. standards of weights and measures and its application determining molar quantities.
- Skill in the operation of chemical production equipment.
- Skill in the use of physical and chemical analyses and interpretation of results.
