POSITION SUMMARY:
The Physician Assistant will provide quality primary health care and emergency treatment to KVHC clients. Primary health care includes: health promotions; prevention of disease and disability; health maintenance; rehabilitation; identification of health problems; management of health problems; and referral under the direction of a supervising physician. The Physician Assistant will practice medicine within the scope of their licensure and, under the Supervision of a KVHC Physician.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides primary patient care within the Plan of Supervision while following protocols, policies and regulations of the scope of practice to assure quality patient care.
- Shares “on-call” responsibilities with other providers to assure availability and continuity of care.
- Performs tasks as required by the Medical Director or supervising physician to promote proper utilization of time and staff.
- Maintains accurate and complete patient health records to assure confidentiality and compliance with health care regulations.
- Interprets health data by identifying risk factors and provides wellness activities.
- Diagnosing and treating common diseases and human responses to actual and potential health problems.
- Counseling individuals and families regarding health care issues.
- Consulting and/or collaborating with other health care providers and community resources.
- Referring client to other health care providers and resources for identified health issues.
- Attends required meetings and participates in committees as required.
- Performs additional duties or projects as assigned by the Medical Director
- Adheres to all KVHC policies and protocols.
- Complies with all safety rules and protocols. Reports all incidents, regardless of severity, immediately to their supervisor and completes an incident report and investigation form, which will be forwarded to Human Resources within 24 hours of the incident
- Conducts themselves as a good steward in the communities served by KVHC; represents the organization at outreach activities as needed.
- Actively participates as committee member as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Graduation from an accredited Physician’s Assistant program.
- Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician’s Assistants.
- Current Maine State Licensure.
- Must possess a clean criminal and DHHS background.
- Must possess the ability and means to travel between clinics as needed.
- Valid State of Maine Driver’s license and ability to be insured by KVHC’s vehicle insurance carrier.
