Master's Degree, Physician Assistant (required)
EXPERIENCE:
3-5 years' experience (preferred)
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Current license from the state of Nebraska. (required)
National certification by the NCCPA. (required)
CPR and ACLS certification within 90 days after employment. Attends ACLS and BLS as scheduled to maintain proficiency. (required)
Registered with hospital to provide services through the appointment, reappointment, and clinical privileges policies. (required)
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:

- Examine patients to obtain information about their physical condition.
- Interpret diagnostic test results for deviations from normal.
- Make tentative diagnoses and decisions about management and treatment of patients.
- Obtain, compile and record patient medical data, including health history, progress notes and results of physical examination.
- Administer or order diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests.
- Prescribe therapy or medication with physician approval.
- Perform therapeutic procedures, such as injections, immunizations, suturing and would care, and infection management.
- Instruct and counsel patients and prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance.
- Provide physicians with assistance during complicated medical procedures.
- Supervise and coordinate activities of technicians or technical assistants.
- Visit and observe patients on hospital rounds, updating charts, ordering therapy, and reporting back to physician.
- Submits a privilege request form in conjunction with his/her request for appointment as Allied Health Professional (AHP). Requests should include only those privileges that correspond with clinical privileges held by the collaborating physician(s). Included are proposed duties procedures and responsibilities assumed by or assigned to the Physician Assistant as recognized competencies of a graduate of Physician Assistant Education Program accredited by the Council of Allied Education of the American Medical Association.
- Emergency call duties – will see and assess all emergencies during call period and consult with physician as necessary; will initiate life saving measures and preliminary testing.
- Maintain ongoing education to upgrade professional skills and ensure licensure.
- Actively participates in Quality Improvement activities.
- Attends and participates in departmental meetings / in-services, Brodstone Healthcare quality improvement program, etc.
