Posting Summary: Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Nutritionist II for the department of Pediatrics at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Under the direction of the faculty and the Director of the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition, assists in the planning of and the participation in nutritional care of patients for multiple divisions within the Department of Pediatrics.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Conducts pediatric nutritional consultations for each patient of the Division.
- Recognizes gaps in clinical knowledge or expertise and seeks advice, mentorship and clinical supervision from Nutritionist I RDs as needed to provide evidence based and safe nutritional care.
- Seeks evidenced based nutrition guidelines and continuing education to increase expertise in clinical nutrition care for patients with nutritional conditions outside of the RDs experience.
- Obtains patient nutrition histories.
- Assesses the nutrition status and specific nutritional needs of individual patients.
- Discusses specific needs of the individual patient with the physician and recommends appropriate medical nutrition therapy.
- Develops nutrition care plans to meet the needs of individual patient.

Qualifications:
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Graduate from an accredited college with a Bachelor's Degree in dietetics or nutrition.
- One (1) year of professional experience in dietetics or nutrition or successful completion of an approved dietetic internship; pediatric experience preferred.
Certifications/Licenses:
- Must possess the credential of Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist (RD/RDN).
- A.D.A Registration.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual in Spanish is an asset.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Physical Demands: This position requires standing, sitting and walking one-third of the time and requires talking and use of the hands and fingers over two-thirds of the time. This position requires that lifting or force be exerted up to 25 pounds under one-third of the time. There are no special vision requirements: close vision at 20 inches or less.
