Certified Surgical Tech, Full Time, Day Shift
POSITION SUMMARY:
To assist surgeons and registered nurses by performing routine, technical, and related duties during surgical operations. To provide safe and competent care to all patients in a variety of age groups and function effectively with a variety of patient physical and emotional disabilities. Responsible for the daily cleaning and processing of equipment, providing for the between case turnover by removing, cleaning, and decontamination of equipment used by the team, and ensuring clean equipment for each procedure. Be the resource person for assigned specialty including, but not limited to, tray inventory, maintenance of specialty instruments, supplies, ordering of instruments and MD requests.
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent and completion of a formal accredited Surgical Technology Program or military training required. Certification is required through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 2 years experience preferred or completion of a formal internship through an accredited Surgical Technology Program.
SPECIAL SKILLS:
CST and member of the Association of Surgical Technologist preferred. CPR Certification required. Must be able to perform work accurately with attention to detail within specified time periods. Ability to work cooperatively with members of the healthcare delivery team and staff. Ability to demonstrate flexibility in adapting to changes in workload and work schedule. Ability to set priorities, effectively solve problems, and respond quickly to emergency requests. Ability to communicate effectively (orally and in writing) and assist in meeting the care needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. In accordance with the AST Guidelines, the certified surgical technologist may assist during basic robotic surgery cases only after completing the competency assessment for Robotic surgery.
