Our innovation team works to establish and foster a culture of innovation, leveraging a design thinking-centered approach to identifying and solving areas of opportunity for the organization. We actively respond to market trends and technological advances to stay relevant with current donors and fundraisers and create new, interesting, and compelling platforms that inspire engagement and giving with new audiences.
The team identifies focused innovation opportunities within our current/core fundraising campaigns. Then, it solves the gaps to increase the number of participating companies, fundraisers, and donors to drive revenue growth. We are also developing and launching new revenue streams with the potential to raise $10M annually. We are seeking an intern with a passion for and some experience with social media platforms to engage and inspire fundraising.
The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non-profit, voluntary health organization.
The Association offers many resources to help you maintain work-life harmonization through your changing needs and life situations. To help you be successful, you will have access to Heart U, our award-winning corporate university, as well as training and support locally and through our National Center.
Internship Overview:
Time Commitment: 20-25 hours per week
Internship Duration: 1/21/25 – 5/2/25
Location: Remote
Salary: $23.00 per hour
Responsibilities
- Expand engagement and increase revenue through emerging virtual communities and social media platforms.
- Assist with creating and updating social media content to support fundraising activities on platforms like Instagram and through the American Heart Association DIY fundraising pages.
- Create and update social media content to support fundraising initiatives, including:
- Vertical video for Instagram reels and stories
- Posts for various social media platforms
- Ability to host short live sessions
- Support, direct stewardship and cultivation of current and former social media fundraisers and donors.
Qualifications
- Candidates who are seniors or graduate students pursuing a degree in marketing and communication, business, non-profit management, or a related degree.
- Experience with fundraising activities preferred.
- Demonstrated excellence in written communication skills.
- Demonstrated skills in effective one-on-one and group communications and comfort with working with all levels of community leaders, volunteers, and staff.
- Ability to interact professionally in a corporate, non-profit environment and assume responsibility for guiding communications and projects from inception through completion.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple priorities involving multiple entities.
- Knowledge of social media platforms – Facebook and Instagram are primary.
- Basic knowledge of Canva and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Intermediate to excellent proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Required Equipment: Reliable WiFi Connection.
- Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 8:30am-5pm.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future.
