The Helen DeVos Children's Surgery department completes over 8000 cases per year. It has 8 operating rooms including one with a fully integrated iMRI suite. HDVCH surgery is verified as a Level 1 Children's Surgery site through the American College of Surgeons. Our unit is staffed 24/7 with a team of RN's and Surgical Technologists. Our physician teams consist of all pediatric certified Surgeons and Anesthesiologists. Helen DeVos OR supports a large variety of specialties including: ENT, General, Urology, Robotics, Plastics, Ortho/Ortho Spine, Cardiac, Dental, Burn, Ophthalmology, and Neurosurgery.

We have both inpatient and ambulatory spaces as well as a Level 1 trauma Emergency Department designated to children.
Assists in the preparation, delivery, and clean-up of patient care during the intra-operative phase. Contributes to the smooth operation of the unit. Obtains and organizes necessary equipment, sterile supplies and instruments for each surgical case. Assembles surgical supplies for rooms and case tables. Opens sterile supplies for surgical procedures. Cleans equipment (including decontamination and sterilization of instruments), work areas, and reusable supplies and returns unneeded equipment to appropriate department. Also follows-up on equipment needing repairs.
