About Lake Ontario Veterinary Clinic:
We are a thriving, privately-owned, small animal general practice located on the outskirts of the city of Oswego, NY. In July 2023, we opened the doors of our newly constructed 5,000+ sq ft facility and have been steadily growing our client base and our reputation since then! We are currently operating as a single DVM practice, but we have all the demand and all the space we need to start expanding our team of Veterinarians!
We offer 4 large exam rooms for full-service preventative and sick patient care, a comfort room for euthanasia, a large on-site pharmacy, dedicated soft tissue surgery and dedicated dentistry suites, on-site radiology, ultrasound, and laboratory services, as well as laser therapy.
Throughout the clinic, we focus on client education so that our clients understand the value of our services, the importance of their preventative care, and the reasoning behind our diagnostic and treatment recommendations. We offer a spectrum of care to better serve our economically diverse community.
Enough About Us, Because Really, It’s All About You!
At Lake Ontario Veterinary Clinic, our mission is to provide the best patient care and client experience possible and we know that our staff is the most important asset we have to offer our clients and their pets! To help attract and retain the very best team possible, we offer:
- Staff/Family oriented flexible scheduling: We are looking for an Associate Veterinarian who is committed to their work and respects the importance of their role in the practice, but we also know that it's easy to burn ourselves out! We support and encourage a healthy work-life balance and we offer schedule flexibility to better suit the needs of our new Associate Veterinarian now and in the future. While we are hoping for a full-time Associate Veterinarian, we are also open to a part-time Associate Veterinarian. Our practice hours are staff and family friendly but still offer flexibility in the length of days. We are open Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM with a dedicated closure for lunch hour. While we serve our clients with emergencies as often as possible during business hours, there are no overnights, no weekend shifts, and no on-call duties! Our schedule and support staff allows us to offer the option of 8-hour or 10-hour days to suit the needs of our new Associate Veterinarian.
- Highly qualified, committed, support staff: We have carefully chosen and trained our team of highly qualified, committed, and professional support staff. All of our staff are full-time and genuinely devoted to our success as a clinic and a team! In addition to our compassionate and supportive DVM owner with 13 years of experience, we currently have 3 LVTs with experience that ranges from 1.5 to more than 10 years in the field, 2 Veterinary Assistants who have joined us from past careers as licensed groomers, and a Receptionist with many years of experience both in human and veterinary medicine. With this incredible team by your side, you will always have the support you need to provide the best care for the clients and patients you serve!
- Time for yourself, your family and your continuing education: We know how important it is to be able to step away from your work and the clinic to recharge! With no on-call responsibilities, when you leave our clinic, you are officially off-duty unless you choose to utilize our cloud-based practice management software to work on records from the comfort of your own home! We also offer an ample amount of Paid Time Off (PTO), Paid Holidays, and some days surrounding the holidays, time off for CE and expense reimbursement, Disability and Paid Family Medical Leave, and additional leave policies for Military, Voting, Jury Duty, Domestic Violence, and Bereavement.
- Competitive benefits package: In addition to our competitive salary, ample PTO and other leave based compensation, we also offer a competitive benefits package that includes Health and Dental Insurance, Employee and Family Pet Care Discounts, coverage of License Recertification Fees and Membership Dues, Uniform Allowance, and Retirement Plans with Contribution Matching.
- A chance to explore your passion: We encourage all of our team members to explore the areas of Veterinary Medicine that most interest them! Our DVM owner has a special interest in exploring new soft tissue surgery and wound management techniques, and enjoys diagnostic ultrasound while our Licensed Veterinary Technicians have special interests in canine reproduction and fertility, and canine, feline and equine rehabilitation and pain management. We all enjoy learning and growing in the areas that most interest us and we love sharing our insight and experiences with each other and with our clients. As we expand our team of Veterinarians, we are excited to begin filling more needs within our community by offering a more diverse portfolio of services. Associate Veterinarians with interest in urgent care, exotics, orthopedics, pain management and rehabilitation, cardiology, oncology, or small ruminants and backyard poultry would be desirable but there is certainly not requirement or limit to the areas you can explore.
- A management team that supports, encourages and listens to you: If you’ve been in the field for any length of time, you know this is a big one! At Lake Ontario Veterinary Clinic, collaboration is one of our management’s favorite words! We love to learn from the experiences of our team members, good or bad, and we welcome their feedback in everything we do. Our new Associate Veterinarian will have the opportunity to help us continue to develop the standard of care and treatment protocols that will shape our practice as we grow, in an environment that supports and encourages collaboration among all the members of our team.
- A practice culture of teamwork and mutual respect: We think this is probably the most important thing! At Lake Ontario Veterinary Clinic, we are first and foremost, a team! Each day we share the highs and lows, the wins and losses, and the workload together. We listen to every member of our team and learn from everyone’s experiences in and out of the workplace. We build each other up, laugh at least once each day, and leave knowing that we did our best work and tomorrow we’ll start fresh. We are proud of the work we do, we are proud to be a team, and we can’t wait to welcome our next new team member! Our new Associate Veterinarian will be welcomed with open arms and will play a vital role in continuing to build and support our amazing practice culture!
We can't wait to meet the next new member of our team. If what we're offering sounds like what you're looking for, please reach out to us! Email inquiries and resumes can be submitted directly to our DVM owner at management@lakeontariovet.com!
