Job Description:
Performs tests with high complexity on blood and body fluids to provide information for diagnosing and combating disease consistent with a level 1 trauma center. Works independently with moderate supervision from a Medical Scientist Supervisor or the Director of Laboratory Operations. May be assigned to work in a specialized section within the department.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory/medical technology science and ASCP (or equivalent) certification in one or more specialty areas of the laboratory. Or, Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory/medical technology science and completion of an AMA approved laboratory training program and eligible for ASCP certification. Or, completion of an approved government training program and eligible for ASCP certification.
- Verbal communication skills required to interact with other hospital personnel.
- Writing skills and computer aptitude required to document test results and prepare reports of daily work.
- Must be able to stand for long periods.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Must be available to rotate shifts and work weekends and holidays.
- All Scientists must meet the CLIA '88 requirements for the complexity level of work performed.
