Background Information:
Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of automated software testing, data analysis, and cybersecurity solutions for complex, mission-critical systems for the US Department of Defense (DOD) and commercial customers, is seeking a highly motivated and detail-orientated Lab Technician to be based in our Fall River, MA office.
Overview:
The Lab Technician will play a crucial role in setting up and maintaining the hardware structure of the Fall River, MA Lab. The Lab Technician will work with leadership and a fast-paced team of mission-focused engineers to solve some of the Navy’s toughest challenges. Initiative, creativity, reliability, and efficient teamwork will be required to successfully deliver innovative solutions in this dynamic space.
The Lab Technician will support multi-disciplined teams focused on DoD initiatives in support of tactical capability development primarily for Navy surface and submarine platforms. Project areas include DevSecOps, real-time automated test and analysis, virtual compute environments, machine learning based data analytics, cybersecurity, backfit and forward fit tactical solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring smooth and efficient day-to-day operations in the Fall River Lab. Primary responsibilities will include unpacking and rack mounting servers, installing storage devices, cable management and verifying system operation.
All applicants must be able to obtain/maintain an active U.S. Security Clearance.
Responsibilities Include:
- Set up Hardware:
- Unpackage equipment and ensure proper handling during setup.
- Rack mount servers and install storage devices accurately.
- Install and manage peripherals as needed.
- Create CAT6 cables.
- Cable Hardware (servers & switches):
- Expertly cable network cables, power cables and peripherals.
- Ensure proper labeling and organization of cables.
- Maintain a clean and tidy cable management system.
- Verify System Operation:
- Install operating systems on servers following established protocols.
- Configure server BIOS settings for optimal performance.
- Conduct system tests to ensure proper functioning and resolve any issues.
- Organize and Manage Lab Equipment:
- Maintain an inventory of lab equipment, servers, cabling, and accessories.
- Organize equipment and keep track of their locations.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs when necessary.
- Ensure Smooth and Efficient Day-To-Day Operations:
- Monitor and troubleshoot hardware issues.
- Collaborate with team members to address technical challenges.
- Document and report any malfunctions or problems encountered.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Candidates should possess a minimum of a high school diploma.
Required Skills:
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional reading and writing skills to document procedures and communicate effectively.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to maintain an inventory system.
Preferred Skills:
- Computer Skills: Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Familiarity with operating systems installation and server BIOS configuration.
- Knowledge of server rack mounting
- Understanding of hardware setup, cable management and troubleshooting.
- Technical certifications or relevant degree preferred.
