Job overview
This is a Locum consultant post (x 1) in Neuroradiology, primarily in neurovascular intervention. This tenure of this post is 6 months in the first instance and expected to be for up to one year with the intention for the successful candidate to start imminently. The post is based at King’s College Hospital, Denmark Hill site, with support to the Princess Royal University Hospital site. There are currently 16 Neuroradiologists, including 5.5 (WTE) interventional consultants, who deliver this specialty service across the KHP sites.
Main duties of the job
The remit of the post holder will be to work within the multi–disciplinary team providing and further developing care for patients presenting to Neuroradiology and to provide support for the existing neurointerventional and diagnostic services. The individual will be required to play an active role in the general workload of the department including the out of hours provision of emergency aneurysm treatment and Mechanical thrombectomy for stroke. Commitment to teaching and training of junior staff is also encouraged.
The post will have an on-call commitment to provide a neurointerventional service and the post holder will be expected to contribute to the performance and governance agenda of the division.
The post holder will be expected to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate training.

Person specification
Qualifications
- Full MRCP
- Other higher degree or diploma (e.g., MD)
Experience
- Wide experience in all aspects of diagnostic and Intervention neuroradiology, culminating in award of Certificate of Completion of Training by GMC, or award of Certificate of Eligibility for Specialty Registration (CESR) by GMC
- Experience in day-to-day organisation of diagnostic and Intervention neuroradiology services in a busy Teaching Hospital
Management and Leadership
- Able to demonstrate leadership capability within multi-disciplinary teams
- Management course and/or qualification
Personal Skills and Attributes
- Effective communicator, able to work in a close-knit team and co-operate with all medical and paramedical staff
- Flexible, able to cover colleagues’ absence
- Professional attitude towards work, reliability, good record of attendance and tidy personal appearance
Job specific criteria
- Dedicated diagnostic and Intervention neuroradiology training through an accredited neuroradiology training programme
- Previous experience as a consultant diagnostic / intervention Neuroradiologist in institutions.
