Psychiatric Technician - Behavioral Health - Part Time, Nights (7PM - 7AM, Alternating Days)

Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Psychiatric Technician - Behavioral Health - Part Time, Nights (7PM - 7AM, Alternating Days) - NSG-I. In this role, the successful candidate works in collaboration with Behavioral Health staff to provide observation, care, and treatment to an adult psychiatric population in an emergency setting. Good interpersonal and communication skills are required, along with the ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provision of Patient Care:
- Identify unusual behavior of patients and communicate observations to the RN in charge.
- Document patient’s behavior and recognize changes in condition during 1:1 observation.
- Apply restraints appropriately and demonstrate knowledge of hospital policies.
- Recognize communication problems of patients and ensure confidentiality.
- Make regular rounds and report changes in patient status.
- Participate in evaluation of the therapeutic environment.
- Complete various errands as requested, such as transporting patients.
- Perform 1:1 observation within the Behavioral Health Department as needed.
- Documentation Requirements:
- Document appropriately for 1:1 and close observation patients.
- Complete admission paperwork and prepare patient records.
- Overall Functioning of the Department:
- Conduct contraband checks in the Emergency Department.
- Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living.
- Work as part of a psychiatric team.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify, you must have a High School diploma or comparable education equivalent. Ability to work effectively with Behavioral Health patients, knowledge of non-violent crisis intervention techniques, First Aid Training, BLS Certification, and De-escalation Training are required. Must be able to occasionally lift/carry up to 25 lbs and push/pull up to 75 lbs.

The salary range for the role is $23.92 - $23.92 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on various factors, including experience and education.
