Wildlife Veterinary Epidemiology Lab Tech (Hourly)
Job Description
Lab Technicians are needed to provide active involvement in the team efforts related to the organization of the lab, processing of its biological samples, sample archival, storage, and data management as needed. Working under laboratory biosafety level 1 and 2 conditions and conducting laboratory and occasional field technical support duties related to projects. Handling frozen and fresh tissues according to biosafety protocols. Archive data pertaining to incoming genetic samples. Carry out laboratory tasks including but not limited to tissues and sample handling, sample storage, sample labeling, maintenance and organization, autoclave validation, freezer performance checks, inventory, and organization of freezer contents as needed.
Requirements
Must be currently seeking an undergraduate degree in a related field and be in good academic standing. Must have the ability to work in a collaborative team setting. Will require working in a lab environment. Federal Work Study is preferred but not required. Must have effective communication, personal relations, collaboration, organization, teamwork, and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to perform effectively in a diverse and fast-paced work environment consisting of multiple and changing priorities with stringent deadlines, under minimal supervision. Attention to detail, sound judgment, and strong conflict resolution skills.
Salary: $15.50 per hour up to 28 hours per week.
