MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
- Current or temporary licensure in the state of West Virginia, or applicable state licensure where services will be performed. Permanent licensure within 90 days of hire.
- Current ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competency in Speech Language Pathology OR if a recent graduate, must complete a Clinical Fellowship within 48 months from hire.
- Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- One (1) year of experience.
CORE JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides coordinated and comprehensive patient care including assessment, expected outcomes, rehabilitation interventions, and evaluation with an interdisciplinary team approach.
- Evaluates speech, language, swallowing, and cognitive-linguistic needs and develops and implements treatment programs for assigned patients.
- Performs evaluation of patient response to tasks performed and delegated.
- Participates in the Performance Improvement program of the Rehabilitation Services department.
- May supervise assigned graduate assistants/interns, students, and volunteers.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimize the need for employees to manually lift patients, and limit safe patient handling to 35 pounds.
- Work requires strength and/or stamina, lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, and carrying of materials and equipment weighing 40+lbs.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
- Exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, and different types of cleaning and laundry chemicals.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to organize and prioritize time and tasks to achieve a well-coordinated work effort.
