Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum): $31.554 - $39.443 - $47.332
This is an LVN float pool position that services the following Sharp Rees-Stealy locations: San Diego Main, Otay Ranch, Frost Street, and Scripps Ranch.
What You Will Do:
Urology is a procedural based, high acuity department. Assists patients, staff and physicians as needed to maintain a high level of efficiency of operations and customer service while providing quality care to a designated patient population. Serves as a technical nursing expert for the department, including ability to safely assist/perform a multitude of highly skilled procedures with the providers in office as well as autonomously per guidelines and written physician orders.
Required Qualifications:
- H.S. Diploma or Equivalent
- Successful completion of LVN/LPN program.
- California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) - CA Board of Vocational Nursing & Psychiatric Technicians - REQUIRED
- AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association - REQUIRED
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1 Year LVN experience in related clinical area.
- Ambulatory care experience.
- ACLS Certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - American Heart Association - PREFERRED
- Vocational Nurse IV Therapy/Blood Withdrawal Certification - Various - Employee provides certificate - PREFERRED
Essential Functions:
- Demonstrates clinical knowledge and skill in assigned area and within scope of practice.
- Fully successful in performing/assisting with all tests and procedures in assigned department.
- May act as a clinical resource for assigned area.
- Administers medications safely and accurately per guidelines and written order.
- Accurately documents patient care per protocol.
- Partners with physicians to continuously learn and expand clinical knowledge base.
- Utilizes good judgment and problem-solving ability.
- Maintains appropriate supply levels. Cost conscious in usage.
- Completes Quality Assurance (QA) assignments and ensures overall department compliance with requirements.
- Exhibits superior critical thinking skills.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Skills as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse.
- Ability to prepare patients for examinations, tests, or treatments and explain procedures.
- Ability to observe patients, charting and reporting changes in patients' conditions.
- Ability to collect samples, such as blood, urine, or sputum from patients.
- Assures quality of care by adhering to professional standards.
