Location: Alton Mental Health Center, Alton, Illinois
Position Overview
The Division of Mental Health is seeking to hire a Clinical Psychology Associate for the Alton Mental Health Center. For a period of 3 to 48 months, the associate will actively progress to completion of all education and experience required to sit for the clinical psychology registration examination; participate in in-service and on-the-job training to develop expertise in clinical psychology; receive controlled work assignments of increasing difficulty; and under qualified supervision, conduct psychological interviews, tests, and participate in treatment procedures and case management.
Essential Functions
- Progress to completion of all education and experience required to sit for the clinical psychology registration examination.
- Conduct psychological interviews, tests, and interpret results under qualified supervision.
- Attend and participate in team meetings on initial assessments for newly admitted patients.
- Develop special programs for fitness to stand trial and maladaptive behaviors under qualified supervision.
- Conduct individual and group therapy as needed under qualified supervision.
- Participate in psychology department training programs in teaching, training, and seminars.
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the job description.
Minimum Qualifications
- Satisfactory completion of a pre-doctoral clinical internship and all doctoral coursework from an accredited psychology program recognized by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
Conditions of Employment
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods, including stooping, bending, lifting, or exerting up to 20 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to pass the IDHS background check.
- Ability to pass a drug screen for prohibited substances under Illinois Law.
