EMSL is currently seeking a Microbiologist I specializing in Direct Microscopy in Cinnaminson, NJ. This role will encompass preparation and analysis for environmental microbiology samples.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Preparation and analysis of a variety of environmental samples for analysis by direct microscopy.
- Reading and identifying fungi in spore trap and tape samples using optical microscopy.
- Maintaining QA/QC and company policy.
- Perform standard and non-standard laboratory procedures including fungi spore analysis (spore traps and direct examinations).
- Record data in a specific manner.
- Working on special projects as assigned, some clerical work involved, and data entry.
- Maintain and troubleshoot equipment and lab clean-up.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Science - Biology or Microbiology is preferred.
- One to two years of experience in environmental microbiology.
- Ability to work with microscopes, analytical balances, biological safety cabinets, and learn good lab practices.
- College-level course in Statistics or quality assurance is a plus.
- Experience with spore traps, direct microscopic exam, bacteriology, and mycology is desired.
- Must be able to distinguish colors in order to perform the analysis.
- Good computer skills are important for data entry tasks.
- Attention to detail and willingness to learn analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Ability to work under strict timelines to meet clients’ deadlines.
Available Shift:
Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Training schedule to start will be Monday to Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
