Job Description
We currently have an opening for a Long Term Sub to cover for our part-time Physical Therapist. This position is a 2.5 day per week position and not benefits eligible. There is some flexibility in determining the weekly schedule but will be based on student needs as outlined in their IEPs.
The position will begin on November 1, 2024, and will end in the spring of 2025. A specific end date has not yet been determined.
Experience working with students in Kindergarten through grade 8 and in working with a multidisciplinary team are preferred. Knowledge of human development throughout the life span, the use of physical therapy theories, models of practice, principles, and evidence-based practice as well as federal, state, and local legislation, and regulations that mandate and guide physical therapy practice in schools are a must. Successful candidates must also have the ability to create and maintain positive relations with students, school personnel, parents, and citizens, and to collaborate with the appropriate stakeholders to maintain high quality of services.
Qualified candidates must have experience with the following:
- Evaluate student strengths and needs given a variety of functional, behavioral, and standardized assessments, skilled observation, checklists, histories, and interviews.
- Develop IEP goals and intervention plans based on student needs and evaluation results. Provide quarterly progress monitoring.
- Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure team understanding of students’ physical strengths and needs.
- Adapt and modify the environment, including assistive technology and training instructional staff to meet individual needs and to help students function as independently as possible.
- Manage inventory of therapeutic equipment and assessments.
- Participate in IEP meetings for students on your caseload.
- Maintain clinical and administrative records in accordance with professional standards, state guidelines, and school district policy.
- Use technology effectively.
- Abide by professional Code of Ethics.
- Maintain professional competence through professional development activities provided by the District and/or self-selected professional growth activities.
- Perform other duties, as assigned by the building administrator, director of student services, or superintendent.

Job Requirements
- The successful candidate must have a minimum of a Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy or a closely related discipline and hold a State of Maine Physical Therapist License at time of hire. Must also hold or be in the processing of obtaining an approved Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) with the Maine DOE.
