Are you looking for a company that you can call home and have opportunities to grow? We are looking for an Oral Surgical Assistant to join our growing practice. We pride ourselves on guiding our staff in the right direction to not only learn but also get hands-on training to move forward within the company. To be successful as an oral surgery assistant, you should be highly organized and attentive to patients' needs.
Surgical Responsibilities:
- Assist Surgeon during consultations and treatment.
- Proper instrument cleaning in accordance with infection control and biohazard protocols
- Autoclave operation and function
- Surgical tray set-up
- Identification of instruments used in the clinic.
- Room set up/break down for IV anesthesia and surgery.
- Seat patient and perform pre-op set-up.
- Review charts.
- Nitrous oxide set-up.
- Properly positioning restraints.
- Support airway for sedated patients.
- Take vital signs.
- Ability to circulate and retrieve instruments.
- Excellent patient care & communication.
- Take X-Rays (Panoramic x-rays and CBCTs).
Non-Surgical Responsibilities: - Greet patients and make them feel comfortable.
- Restock supplies, forms, handouts, and rooms.
- Familiar with all forms and handouts (procedure-based, consent forms, etc.)
- Aware of and in compliance with OSHA requirements (e.g. personal protection)
- Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, filing, and charting.
- Make follow up phone calls to patients.
- Properly closing and opening the office each day (Tanks, Suction, Xray)
Required Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent.
- Dental Assistant, Medical Assistant or relatable work experience required.
- Great organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to provide excellent patient care, even under stressful circumstances.
- Consistent professionalism in appearance and attitude.
- Occasional travelling is required to all 6 office locations (Alexandria, Burke, Centreville, Fairfax, Reston, and Woodbridge) as needed for patient care needs
Preferred Qualifications: - Current BLS CPR certification preferred
- Dental Radiation Safety certification (Panoramic x-ray, PA, CBCT) preferred
Schedule: - Monday to Friday, 8-hour shift

Special Requirements: - Working on-site is essential to the function of this position.
- Must be able to stand up to 80% of the time at minimum.
- Physical requirements include driving, flying, sitting, and standing for extended periods of time.
