Position Summary / Career Interest:
Under the supervision of the nursing department’s management, the RN assumes the responsibility for the nursing processes of assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation needed to deliver safe, evidence-based care within their scope of practice.
Responsibilities:
- Collects and assesses initial and ongoing data about the health status of the patient.
- Initiates and/or revises an individualized plan of care that includes immediate and long-term outcomes for the patient/family and reflects the plan of the entire health care team.
- Carries out interventions safely and in compliance with policy to facilitate achievement of expected outcomes.
- Evaluates patient response to intervention/therapy based upon expected outcomes.
- Provides patient education by explaining procedures, medications, and giving instructions at a level the patient can understand.
- Addresses patient’s questions and concerns.
- Verifies patient informed consent when indicated.
- Documents and communicates all required components of patient care.
- Provides care to acutely and critically ill patients in a highly technical and ongoing monitoring environment.
Job Requirements
Required:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Current state nursing licenses or RN license from a participating state in the National Licensure Compact.
- BLS certification.
- PALS certification.
- ACLS certification.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required or must have a plan to obtain BSN approved; in some cases, approval of experience or certifications may substitute for BSN.
- Knowledge of general nursing theory and practice.
- Cardiac Rhythms class required or must complete within six months of employment.
- ACLS certification within 90 days of employment.
- BLS certification within the first two weeks of employment.
- TNCC and ENPC required within one year of employment.
Preferred:
- Certified emergency nurse preferred.
- One year experience preferred in specialty.
- Certified OR Nurse (CNOR) for Pre-OP/PACU.
HIPAA: This position will have access to Protected Health Information to carry out the duties related to their position.
