An amazing new job opportunity has arisen for a committed Band 6 Specialist Practitioner/Sexual Health Health Adviser to work for one of UK's leading health care providers. You will be working in a highly reputed sexual health clinic within the Chester, Cheshire area.
This special service provides free and confidential sexual health services. Services include providing free information and advice on all types of contraception and STI testing and treatment. The service is confidential, non-judgemental and for people of all ages, genders and orientations.
You must be qualified as a Registered General Nurse (RGN) with valid NMC Pin &/or Health Adviser.
As the Band 6 Practitioner/Health Adviser your key responsibilities include:
- Works autonomously to manage his/her own caseload of patients whilst working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Issues methods of contraception and treatments for sexually transmitted infections according to Patient Group Directions & clinical protocols including counselling for and management of complex problems with contraceptive implants and intrauterine devices with appropriate referral to the doctor as necessary.
- Insertion and removal of contraceptive implants and removal of intrauterine devices following appropriate training.
- Provides STI/HIV screening and treatment according to Patient Group Directions & clinical protocols and liaises with clients with positive results to enable a management plan of care for the client and partners in accordance with policy.
- Provides advice and cytology screening as appropriate, according to local policies.
The following skills and experience would be preferred and beneficial for the role:
- You will also need to have a recognised qualification and experience in the provision of contraception and qualification/experience in sexual health (GU) care.
- Be motivated, enthusiastic and possess excellent interpersonal, communication skills.
- Ability to work with a diverse range of clients in innovative sexual health settings.
